For the ones using a Milwaukee battery powered grease gun, are you setting the dial knob to a setting to only pump a certain amount of grease at each fitting or just hitting trigger & pimping grease until you see it squeeze out between bushing etc... I guess this question could be for any battery powered grease gun. Thanks

I use the second method. Each fitting will require a different amount. One technique I use is listening for the crackling sound at the bearing. This indicates its almost full. Then look for old and new grease emerging from the bearing. Wipe clean heavy excess so it doesnt attract dirt.

second method, some areas need lots of grease, not sure where it goes others very little

I use the second method. I have a DeWalt battery powered gun. Laurencen - you will find out were it all goes, when you crawl under.

Second method, but it's the same if I use a manual grease gun. I grease it until I see the old grease pushing out, then wipe it clean.

I just got an M18 grease gun and I really like it!

I have mine set for 5 strokes, many times I'll hit it a second time.

For those with the Milwaukee M18. How many pumps or cycles do you use on average?

On my old manual grease guns, usually 2-3 pumps on most anything (loader, BH, etc) and I could here the "crackling" sound or see the old grease getting pushed by new grease. I got the Milwaukee M18 grease gun for Christmas and just used it the first time this week but it takes a lot of pumps to get the "crackling" or to see grease move.

It also seems to push a lot of grease out AFTER I remove it from the zerk, maybe 3/4-1 inch bead of grease. Even if I wait 20-30 seconds after releasing the trigger, which kind of negates the reduced time for greasing expectation I had.

Is mine defective or am I just not used to it? Kind of disappointed in the overall performance so far.

any chance you have air in the head? mine rarely pushes any grease after removal of the head
