Anyone have experience with Miller Pro Rotary Hay Rakes in specific? Used, they seem to be reasonably priced compared to some of the other big name companies. Kinda wondering if that's a reflection of getting what you pay for.

TIA for any input!

I think they are priced used just due to name, they don't have the Kuhn, NH or Deere rep. Most people around here have Kuhn. I researched rakes a couple of years ago for friend and we both felt the miller pro was the way to go. He wanted at the time to get a rake that could be connected together with another and the miller pro at the time had the best set up. We demoed one (2 set up in tandem) for a week and loved them. We compared it to his current Kuhn single and it seemed to be every bit as good.

At that time he decided to sink money into another part of his operation, but down the road that is what he would like to buy. Miller pro in the time since we have looked was sold to another company, but I don't see any change in the rakes.

A rotary hay rake is a relativly short life machine because of so many moving parts. When you do see a used one, it usually has pretty much been run to the breaking point. Not a sound investment although we do sell 2 brands of them new. Ken Sweet

Yup, neighbour bought a used up Claas. Nothing but trouble with the bushings and cam tracks.

I believe Miller Pro is owned by Art's Way. I own two Kuhn rotaries. Rotaries make a nice fluffy windrow that IMO dries evenly. The bar rakes I have owned rope the windrow and the center doesn't dry as well. I haven't owned a wheel rake to have an opion. I think the Miller makes a nice rake. If I could find a nice used one I would buy it. If you can find a nice used rake from an individual who was hobby farming or an estate sale is the way to go. Most rakes at a dealer are from full time farmers and are probaly wore out as that is why they were traded.

Finger wheel rakes will put the hay in the windrow even more gentle that a rotary rake at less than 1/2 the price. A 8 ft working width 4 wheel rake $1195 New. They will also spread and turn hay as well as rake. Ken Sweet
