miller 301g legend won't weld

we have a 301g legend that was working fine, and then it just stops making an arc. There is sometimes a faint spark from the rod to the workpiece. welding supplier says it may be the "board" which is about 600 bucks but they aren't sure. I want a bit more authority in the diagnosis before I let them play "parts changer". anyone have any experience with this type of problem. Oh, it will sometimes allow me to strike an arc and weld for a while then it just stops again. very random.

I would check the lead connection first. Inside and outside of the enclosure.

I have a Trail Blazer 301G that did the same thing. The switch that gives you the choice between local and remote amp control was set to remote. I hope that's all that is worng. You could also check out Weldingweb forum for advice. Lots of smart people over there.

i had ne to do same thing. changed the battery and fixed the prom so u mght wanna try that first.
