Mig welder.

Came across this ad on Craigs list this morning. Any members in the Puget Sound area that would like to get a Mig welder, this is a really good deal! I don't think it is 3-phase, but something to ask the seller. ESAB still carries parts for these machines. I had a VI-206 for years, very sweet arc! :thumbsup:

What I know of Mig is practically nothing.

I have emailed SA and phoned but he is currently out so thought I would throw it out here for the other experts.

Looked on goggle search but limited.

Any idea of the duty cycle on the Linde 225 and can it do Aluminum.
With Mig do you also need AC current as in Tig with HF AC to do Al.

What is the difference between the one he found above and this one. Nice Linde 225 Amp Mig Welder With ST-23 Spool Gun Aluminum Stainless.
Different modules on front panel but can't tell what they are.

Furu - I'm no expert on the Linde - but it will run aluminum if you hook a spool gun to it.
Spool guns can be pricey btw.

AC and high freq are only needed for Tig. On Mig it's run DCEP so the cleaning action works.
So a spool gun and bottle of 100% Argon and it's all set.

As far as duty cycle - I'd just look up a few modern migs and check out their duty cycle chart.
A millermatic 210 would be a pretty close match I'd guess.
The smaller cased 211 has a shorter duty cycle.

Nice welds- bead hand! I have always hated al welding with mig. I never had a good feel for it. My toes always looked cold lapped and all around unsatisfactory. Oh well....

This is not what I wanted to hear. I bought the spool gun for aluminum work using my Miller 211 but still playing with steel so far. Nothing urgent or big planned for Al but I hope the MIG does what I need it to do. I am trying to avoid investing in a Stick/Tig. I need a plasma cutter instead and there is only so much room in my garage/shop.
