My friend has been running LTX M/S2's, (they call them Defender's now), on his Chevy P/U. He said he can't wear them out. Got 90k out of a set.

I bought Premier LTX, for my Sedona, and they only lasted 30k. :confused3: Loved them, except for that.

I can't get anything else from the french in my size, (16"). So, I am trying out some Firestone's the tire dealer recommended.

I think the whole LTX line of tires are about as good as you can get for a quiet all-season truck tire.

I had over 80K on my LTX M/S2s when I replaced them even though they had a fair amount of thread left, great tires. I replaced them with the Defender LTX and like them even more and they are wearing way better than the M/S2s. Look like they are 100K tires easy. Michelin is all I run, nothing else compares in my experience.

I have gone through three sets of LTX M/S2s on my F150 each of which got only about 30-32,000 miles (I tow a lot). I have the newer Defenders on my AWD car, and I like them. Just purchased a set of LTX A/T2s last week and my first 200 mile impression is

1) they are louder than the M/S2s
2) they don't stick to ice nearly as well as the M/S2s
3) they pick up so many rocks on dirt, township roads that I'm limited to driving at 40mph for fear of what is happening to the paint on my undercarriage (I wanna drive at 60mph on those roads).

I haven't had any deep snow, but the Defenders go through that rather well and I hear that the A/Ts (after I purchased them, as it happened) are not as good in deep snow as the LTX Defenders are.

My 92-year-old mother suggested that maybe the LTX A/T2s will wear better as they must have some redeeming characteristic.

At this point, just 200 miles in, I can confidently say the LTX A/T2 tires suck.

Was gonna mention them tires too.

The ltx defenders are better if you have winter conditions than the at2's

My F250 has LTXA2 have 50000 miles no complaints went well in snow for me and the ride is good. Seems I’ll get to try them out next weekend again as snow is in the forecast

It seems to defy logic, that the same tire can wear rapidly for one owner, and last forever for another.

I understand that everyone drives differently, and of course some keep the alignment, and maintenance up better. Throw out the highs and the lows, there is still a big spread in the mileage, if you read the reviews.

I want to believe, they are not keeping the quality control up on the materials when they make them. Assuming, the natural rubber part of the formula hasn't changed, it would suggest the difference is in the synthetic rubber aspect, and how much is used.

Funny, 30 years ago, they knew how to make tires last 80K. (Used to run Uniroyal Tiger Paws, 80K all the time). But, today most tires are only rated 60k. It seems they seem to have "forgotten" the recipe. By design, of course.

If you tow a lot kick your tire pressure up to at least 40 pounds/ I run 50 pounds, only problem is when empty it rides like a truck☺

Michelin comp'd me pretty nice when my LTXs just wore out with ~ 25K on them. They were a free set from a recall. So for 400$ w/ the road hazard I think for the new Defenders. Wear is looking good on the new ones so far. I'd have to check mileage but I've run pretty much the whole year on them. This van is loaded pretty heavily. I don't notice more road noise, but they definitely grab more gravel and to hear a tick tick until it flings out of that wide gap in the tread. Good in rain. 65 PSI in front and 75 in the back.
