Hi. I need to replace the fuel filters on a Perking 3A-152 diesel, which is easy enough, and will have to bleed the fuel system afterwards. I know how to do this and that's not a problem.
The fuel pump on the right side has a lever that is hand operated for this purpose.
My question: looking at the lever and moving it around it looks like it goes up and down and the spring mounted on it seems to point to this. But when I move it, I get virtually no resistance, like it is not working. I should point out that the tractor runs fine and the pump obviously works or it wouldn't go.
Before I remove my filters and get air in the system, how can i tell it the pump is working by hand?
Can i loosen a fitting and pump it to see?
I'm trying to avoid turning a simple filter change into me then having to wait until pump parts to turn up to fix something I might be able to find beforehand.
Also, am I not doing it right? Does it work another way?
Can post a pic if that helps
Thanks
