Morning again. The oil pressure idiot gauge showed high before I changed the oil and it still shows high after putting the filter in the right way and changing the oil. Does any one know what the spring loaded ball in the oil filter head does? It's not seized. Is this the pressure relief ball? Do I need to remove the pan to get at the oil pump? I'm going to swap out the oil pressure gauge first before taking the pan off. Has anybody done a flush on the oil system and does it work? P.S. I've ordered the spin-on conversion kit. Thank you.

New gauge, oil and filter and oil pressure pegging out at 50+ PSI. I was hoping for an easy fix. Any advice on doing a flush?

Hey Ken. 50 PSI don’t sound like high for oil pressure. Good oil pump and good main bearings. Like think it’s good to go. Just my opinion, good luck

What weight of oil are you using?

Pretty sure that the pressure gauge was always pegged at max for me. That was using 10w-30 or 15w-45.

It's a bigger problem for it to be low than high. And yes, spring loaded ball in the filter head is the bypass for filter plugging or cold starts with thick oil.

I don't have my service manual anymore, but you should be able to find a PSI value that you could check with a test gauge if it has you really worried.
