I cannot describe it accurately, my tractor is at another location and I haven't found it on agcopartsbooks.com. Under the dash behind the battery is a box with a plug. The box is I believe a transformer to energize the lights on the dash. Mine was unplugged when I bought the tractor and when I plugged it back in they started working. Thats where I would start looking if everything else is working. The fuse at the ignition switch I believe controls the headlights also, so it should'nt be the fuse

Finally found the unit on agcopartsbooks.com and it is called a power supply. Its been over 4 years ago but I remember some sort of plug that came apart under the dash and when I plugged it back in the lights on the gages started working. hopefully its something this simple that will correct your problem.

The power supply you mention is a special 24v supply to the gauges with use a special electro-luminescence where the entire dial becomes a lamp similar to florescent. Usually thes power supplies fail and the OP has to exchange the gauges to conventional lighting type gauges. I replaced my incondescent bulbs with LEDs which gives a nice blue glow or other colors available very similar to the original lighting. Both the gauges and power supply are out of production and salvage yards are your only source for replacements. Troubleshooting the lighting one would simply check the output of the power supply. No power means a bad supply. those PS's are 12V input and 24v output. Cheaper to swap out the gauges than buying a used PS that might last a while or might not. Common failure of the power supply was due to fluxuation of the voltage regulator which would burn them out. VR's are easily adjusted but teadious to work with to set properly to prevent premature failure of other electrical items on the tractor. This is why I went with a alternator. Better regulation.

In checking for voltage pulled wire off water gage the dash lights up. Water gauge must have gone to ground internally . I will leave the wire off and be happy with the outcome . Thanks.
