My straight axel diesel MF135 never had battery cover latches since I bought it.

I thought I would buy and put these latches on. I ordered a Sparex S41228 battery clip for the lid.

I am bit confused by the parts supplied and how they all are supposed to fit using the supplied parts. What is confusing is the black spacer with the square flange. Certainly there is no provision on the cover to accomodate this bush. I am just want to try and find out how was this latch supposed to be installed on this battery cover.

I have also found out that there is a early version and late version battery cover latch. I have attached some photos of the various types but how they all fit in on the type of cover I have is a bit confusing. The bits supplied that have barely has enough thread to hold the latch securely. I can certainly understand why they were missing and probably just fell or vibrated off.

Picture 1 and 2 is my latch and cover with the bits as I try to install them. Picture 3 is the battery latch early type and the 4th picture is the late type. If anyone has picture of how this latch is installed in my type cover I would appreciate it. I just want to install it as original. I could "make" it fit with spring washers and bushes but I prefer not to go that route. The dealers that supplied the kit dont really know but there appears to a wide variation in the supplied parts and kits for this latch.

I can't see the hole in the sheetmetsl but if that hole is square turn the black spacer around so the square on the spacer goes through or toward the battery cover Sheetmetal. The square may fit into a recessed hole in the cover.
Looking at your battery cover it looks like the small rubber bumper pads are rotting/missing. I ordered these for my hood. 1 pc - Massey-Ferguson Tractor Hood Rubber Bumper Pads MF 35 5 65 135 15 165+ | eBay

Maybe you could find those without international shipping

Edit
I see that the hole is round in the first picture. Use Loctite on the nut
