MF GC2310 will not start

Hi,

I had been running my tractor all day. I shut it off to do some sifting of soil but when I went to start it nothing happened. I checked the seat safety switch and the neutral position switch but it still will not do anything. I looked over the listings here and also checked the ground wire from the engine to the frame and that is solid. What else can I check?

Hi,

As I posted on a reply to another not starting thread, I replaced the ignition switch, no change, I smacked the starter solenoid with a hammer and it started right up. I will be replacing the solenoid in the near future.

Also check your battery. A solenoid needs enough current to "flick the switch" internally. A weak battery will cause the clicking sound as well. If you replace the solenoid and you still have the problem, check grounds and the battery for voltage.
