MF 4710 4WD Operations

I just purchased a MF 4710 with 4WD and cab. I’ve read the operations manual and need some clarification. It appears that 4WD cannot actually be turned off - there only appears to be auto and manual mode from what I can see. It states that in auto it will disengage at various times (high rate of travel, independently braking, etc.) but apparently re-engages when in normal operation. My question is - it’s there no way to actually turn off 4WD? Just leave it in auto mode normally and run it like that?

Why should it be a problem to leave it at auto?

Properly designed 4WD tractors are designed to be in 4WD when in use and this system will handle the exceptions.

Press and hold the AWD button for a second or so. The light will go out and it will put it in 2wd. AWD will still engage with brake application though.

I'm new to 4WD tractors and am just trying to understand the functionality. My understanding now is that the normal operation is to leave the tractor in "auto 4WD" mode - is this correct? When would I want to use manual and/or 2WD?

I've got a 4710 and the only two modes I see are the Auto light on and off. But just a heads up, the light will stay on regardless when the brakes are applied - So if you've got your brakes applied and you toggle the switch, it'll look like nothing happened - But when you're off the brakes and you toggle it, the light does go out (which I assume to be that no 4WD is engaged.
