MF 285
We just bought a 285 with multi power transmission and we are not familiar with this setup. Problem is when you turn tractor off in forward gear it rolls, in reverse it doesn't. We have another 285 with standard transmission and when you do the same thing the tractor doesn't move an inch. Is this a clutch problem or something to do with the multi power transmission?

This is normal for a multipower transmission. It will freewheel in low multipower so going down hill be sure to have in high multipower for engine braking. With multipower transmission, tractor can not be pulled or push started due to the over running clutch in the transmission. According to the owners manual, when going uphill, when the clutch is depressed in high multipower the tractor will not roll backwards. I think this is right, I don't have my manual handy right now.
