MF 253 diesel 4wd

I have a MF253 3 cyl diesel. I used it all day with no problems. Then I heard a kind of missing sound from the engine. I was low on fuel so I added fuel. When I recranked it the engine would drop to about 600 rpm then rev to about 1500. When I cut it off and recranked it ran for aqbout 10 seconds,quit and will not craqnk now. I bled the fuel line of air but still nothing. Any suggestions?

I bet their is still air in there. I run into this changing fuel filters on a 152 perkins in a 240. Sometimes it will fire do and what you said, chug, then speed up, then die out. Have to keep cracking fuel lines and cranking, eventually it smooths out.

Yep that was it. Went back and cleared lines again and it cranked. Thanks.
