This MF175 was running great the other day and all of the sudden I came to a complete stop and engine stalled out. I thought ok maybe ran out of fuel (gauge is broken), checked was full started her back up took foot of the dual stage clutch and stalls out again. idles great in any gear or in neutral until foot is off the clutch then it stalls out. Massey Dealer has yet to respond to my frantic calls. It feels shifting threw 1-3 and N all make contact, same with the H & L. I don't even know where to start, I have the ability to split tractor but have no idea what I'm looking at if I do.This is a 1967 with an A4-236 diesel equipped with the multi power option. Anyone have any suggestions as to what it could be?

A little more info up to the point of complete stop/stalling out. I'm assuming it stopped all at once, like jamming the brakes..?? It will stall in Neutral when you engage the clutch..?? If this is the case, I'll take a wild guess, and say you have possibly picked up a piece of something, and has the main trans shaft locked.

Will the tractor roll, while in neutral..?? If it will roll in neutral, you can probably rule out something in the ring & pinion. If it won't, could be something caught up in those two.

There is a coupler that connects the output tranmission shaft, to the pinion gear shaft. It has a pretty good sized cotter pin in it to hold it in place. The one on my 180 was just all but dropping out, as whoever put it back together previously barely had it spread. Could be something like that dropped out, and the gears picked it up.

You don't need to split it to check that, but do need to pull the trans cover. Depends on how hard of a job that will be if done in the shop, or where it's setting.

I was driving in either 2-3H just getting into a service drive when something jammed up just like locking brakes up in a car. The tractor does roll in neutral with a bit of brute force it rolls quite smoothly, to bad barn is on a hill... But anyway I'm getting ready to pull trans cover tonight, hopefully it is nothing to bad.
