MF 1635 will not engage in front wheel assist

1635 with only 96 hours bought new 2013. Pull the lever and nothing , rocked back and forth no help . Its possible that it has never been engaged since I have another tractor and cant remember ever using the 4x4. The only thing it has been used for is bush hogging a 10 acre field . Of course now that I need it the dang thing don't work . Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated

Check the couplers inside the driveshaft tube. Maybe a snap ring slid back. You will need a 12mm wrench for this job. The driveshaft goes from the transmission to the front axle. You'll also notice that hump in your engine oil pan and why you need to pull both drain plugs when you change your oil.
