Hi everybody, This is my first post . I have a 2006 Massey Ferguson 1533 with 340hrs on it and I have developed a leak in the main loader valve body. The leak is coming from the small hole next to the set screw. It only starts to leak when the tractor is running. I was wondering if anybody else has dealt with this problem or does anyone know what is a good way to fix this.
Thanks for the help.

Jim

It almost looks like that's a minature frost plug.Sometimes they have a hole in things eg: carburators so they can get access to screws, orfices, etc. and they use a small plug to close up the hole sort of like a minature frost plug. What you could do is take a punch a about 1/4 the size of the plug and place it in the center and tap not to hard with a hammer and see if that helps.Other then doing that maybe put a dab of silcone onto it and see it that'll stop the leak. Just by looking at the picture thats what it looks like to me but anyone with a valve like that on there tractor might beable to better help you out and see what they've done to correct there's Larry

Thanks Larry, I'll give that a try tomorrow. If anyone else has any ideas, I would greatly appreciate it. The pic above was taken from below the tractor while I was laying on my back. I believe it is the main loader valve, it is located right below the loader joystick. I was wondering what that little hole is there for???
Thanks Jim

Like I was saying Jim Take a good look and see if it looks like a small frost plug before hitting it.You don't want to hit it to hard either if it is a plug like that otherwise you could distort it and make it leak worse.Take a real good look you'll be able to tell if its a plug.Hopefully someone with expertice in working on hydralic valves will chime in here and help out. I haven't found anything like that on either of my tractors valves so I can't even surmise as to what thats for. Larry.;)

Thanks Larry, I'm going to take a good look at it on Monday. I am going to try to get a better picture of that area and post it. The first pic seems a little blurry on that little hole.

There is a bulletin on it advising to drill and tap hole and inset a plug.

Thanks for the help. That is what I did last week. Here is a picture of the fix. The gray stuff is JB weld which I tried as a quick fix....it lasted 20 minutes. I used a size F drill bit and then tapped it with a 5/16-18NC.
