MF-1533 Air in Hydraulic Lines

I have a 2008 MF-1533 with Synchroshuttle transmission. If the tractor sits for a day or so the 3-point hitch and FEL do not work at all…power steering works fine. To get up and going I have to open the bleed screw on the rearward hydraulic pump and turn the steering wheel until the air gets chased out. Then the hydraulics work fine, until the tractor sits again. Any ideas as to where I’m drawing in air??

Leaks in cracked hoses is first guess. I thought the steering and 3pt pumps were two different pumps (??) I assume you already checked fluid levels. Very puzzling why turning the steering wheel makes even a temporary change in the rear hydraulics...

JWR- thank you for your advice!

Ps- I’m not certain that turning the steering wheel helps out at all. It’s just something I’ve done while waiting for the air to clear out. Thanks again!

I'm with JWR on this one. Check the suction hoses on the pump/pumps. One might be cracked, letting air in and causing the pump to lose prime.
