MF 135
The tractor has been running fine accept now a "leaking" problem from the carburetor into the air intake has me concerned. Possibly I need an adjustment of the valves on the carburetor or a new carburetor. Can anyone help or suggest a fix to the situation?

That can be something as simple as a carb. float sticking not allowing the valve to close when the bowl is full of fuel.
Don't go buying a new carb. They don't really wear out like other parts.
A good cleaning and a rebuild or gasket kit should fix it.

Watch a rebuild on u tube. Those are pretty simple. There some hacks on u tube so watch a couple and judge the information you get. They aren't complicated carburetors.

I suspect your float may be sticking in the down position allowing fuel to flow all the time, the float may have developed a leak and sunk having the same effect, or the needle is not stopping fuel flow when the float positions it on the seat. As stated above it's not a complicated fix - if you can get the parts. Sometimes a new carburetor is cheaper than a rebuild kit, it depends on where you're shopping. You may find eBay to be a good source.

Welcome to TBN. Yep, tear into the carb and maybe get lucky and simply find debris in the bowl that's causing the needle and seat to leak.

Try tapping on the bowl with the back of a screwdriver. Might just free it up. If so, pretty easy to fix. The whole carb is very easy to work on, the worst part is removing the linkage which isn't bad either.

Its best to have a shutoff on your fuel line so you can turn the fuel off. What can happen with a leaky carb is that if fuel runs into a cylinder when you go to start the tractor the cylinder with fuel in the cylinder comes around as you crank the engine and it stops dead. Liquid lock can damage an engine.
Always turn off the fuel. Another thing a leaky carburetor can do is the fuel can run past the piston rings into the oil pan and dilute the engine oil with gas.
Again shutting off the gas is good insurance. On the updraft intakes the fuel will run out on the ground.
That full tank of fuel you had can be empty the next time you get ready too mow. I learned the hard way to turn the fuel off. :ashamed:

Isn't the 135 an inline engine with an updraft carb?

Maybe, When dalebeck refers to the gas leaking into the air intake he is actually talking about the air cleaner. In a way I could understand a non mechanic or a person from another country calling an air cleaner an air intake. It actually is.
daleabeck,?

I'm guessing

Yeah, I assume it's leaking into the air intake tube?

If everything is sealed up good it might try to fill the air filter system. Do they use an old style oil bath filter?
