I'm replacing all the gauges in newly purchased '67 MF 135 diesel. The PO did not have it connected at all so I bought a cable and it did not turn after installing it to the engine-side at the back of the camshaft. I pulled the plate to find a bad seal and no drive adapter installed in the back of the cam. I ordered the seal, drive adapter and gasket and I should have it this week. In looking at the picture of the drive adapter, it seems to have splines on one end of it that I assume would go into the back of the cam and the small square hole on the other end is where the cable goes.
I can't see the back of the cam all that well, but the female splines are not visible although they may be there. Will I have to drive that adapter into the cam? Hopefully, its not something that will require pulling the cam and taking to a machine shop to be pressed-in. Does anyone have any experience with this procedure?
Thanks in advance
