Looking for some advice on this unit. Some history might be in order. I owned this tractor about seven years ago. Ran fine. Sold to a friend of my father-in-law. He used for about three years and one day would not crank. It has been sitting for about four or so years now untouched. I loaded it up and brought it home to try to get running for him. Tank was rough inside, glass bowl was full of crud, primary pump was plugged up. Basically I've had to remove every piece between the fuel inlet on the tank and the injector pump to blow/clean out. New fuel is now getting to the injector pump and bleeds OK. Will not crank. Removed compression nuts and no fuel is getting to the injectors. Cranked over for 10 or so seconds several times. I hit another thread where another subscriber removed the cover on the injector pump to find that the stop lever stayed in the off position due to a problem with the connecting hardware. I'm ready to try that this evening. One other interesting note. The bottom bleed screw on the injector pump bleeds at a slow steady rate when removed, kind of runs down the pump and drips onto the ground. The upper screw sprays out several feet upon each pump of the lever. Might be a factor. BTY - I'm not a mechanic by trade but have turned a few wrenches in my time. 98% of which have been on gas thought. Very little diesel experience. So here's the question.
1) What else could cause no fuel to the injectors when the pump is full of fuel other than pump failure.
When I get it running I plan on replacing all filters, fuel pump, having the tank cleaned out etc... Basically getting the fueling system back in top order. Would like to hear it run first. Thanks for your help.
