Im sure there are many posts about this problem on this forum I just cant find them. Ive now put about 15 hrs on the tractor I purchased about a month ago everything seemed to be working perfectly, all I have been doing is shredding. I am now starting to notice the more and more I use the tractor that the harder and harder it is getting to shift the clutch releases the pto perfectly it just seems that while it releases enough that the tractor completely stops that it doesnt release enough to shift the gears without some grinding less grinding if i lower the rpms before shifting. Is this something that can be adjusted or is this the sign that it is time for a clutch as im sure this the original clutch?

Thanks in advance!
Chris

My 135 does the same thing once or twice a year. Doesnt last long, just maybe a day or to then it goes back to working like its supposed to. I dont have a clue what causes it. I have been told its getting a thin film of oil on it causing the disk to drag on the pressure plate. I seriously doubt this is the case but thats the only explanation I have ever heard. I can however explain why your pto clutch works correctly. The pto uses a separate disk and pressure plate from the transmission. I hope somebody will explain to us what the problem is here because it really puzzles me why mine does it then stops.

Have you considered trying to adjust the clutch? It sounds like it's not releasing. You'll need a shop manual most likely though sometimes the instructions are in the owner's manaual.

If tractor has Multi Power make sure it is in low for easier shifting of main transmission. May need to remove bottom plate to check PTO release bolt adjustment per IT book, .090 inch clerance. If OK and still drags when shifting main clutch disc may be dieing, when it breaks apart extra release clearance is needed since extra disc facing is loose in clutch assy.

Try adjusting the clutch pedal. A lot of times this is all that is needed.
