Rear Finish Mower MF 1010 4wd hydro mower/bush hog size

I recently purchased a 1010 and now I am search of bush hog and or finish mower. Can this tractor handle a 5 foot bush hog? Or do I need to stick with 4 foot?

I just bought a Mitsubishi but considered (2) 1010's; one 2WD and one 4WD. From what I heard, 4 ft was tops for a 1010.

The Mitsubishi is about the same hp and weight, I think, and I was looking @ 4 footers until I came across a 42", which I bought.

When my brother bought his land 22 years ago, I bush hogged 12 acres with a 1010. He had a 4' cutter, and I can tell you, that is all that tractor wanted! I actually think a 42" bush hog would have been a netter fit-if I remember it, that tractor had about 13 PTO hp, and you would have about 1-1.5 hp less being hydro.

I agree 48" is a bit much, I had a JD 403 on my MF1010, it would cut the grass but tractor needed more weight on the front to handle lifting in safely

That looks like 4' territory for shure.

Could it handle a 5'? if you dont plan to lift it off the ground (remove the top link) and just cutting "lawn" with it (ie not thick brush) then yes it might.

The thing with larger is you can always take less than a full pass. Although it doesn't solve the lifting issue unless you go with the tow only idea.
