Does anybody know which JD models are made in Mexico?
My local Kubota dealer (who used to work for JD) told me that these Mexican tractors are full of quality control problems.

I think he was talking about the 5000 series.

Can anybody shed some meaningful light on this?

Thanks

I know that it is not the 4000 and 5000 series, nor the 90 series and the 5005 series. It may be the advantage tractors in the 6000 and 7000 series, but I am not positive.

John Deere being a global company...

Chihuahua, Mexico (axles, components)

Monterrey, Mexico (agricultural implements; construction equipment components and buckets)

Saltillo, Mexico (agricultural tractors, backhoes, excavators)

Torreon, Mexico (engines, axles)

Is it possible, your "salesperson" is skewing the picture to favor his pocketbook?...

yea it's kind of like the jd dealer saying well you know these tractors are made in Japan and they have alot of quality control problems. Not alot of truth either way to it.

John,

The Kobota dealer had nothing bad to say about most of
John Deere's line of tractors and implements - just the ones assembled and shipped out of Mexico. Still no concern?

Dave,

Keep in mind, you're talking to a salesperson. I guarantee that he would bad-mouth Kubota if he was selling JD's.

When I was looking at buying a new car a couple of months ago, I looked at Kia, Hyundai, Dodge/Chysler, Ford, etc. I ended up buying from a Dodge dealer because the salesguy was honest and forthright. I dealt with him in the past and he always did what he promised!! Very important! Now, when visiting the various dealers, I told them up front what I was looking for and who I was visiting. Yep, you guessed it. Everyone of them bad mouthed each other. Not with facts, just enuendos (sp). /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Hi Dave,

I'm gonna have to trust John Deere's quality control people down there... {manual labor is very inexpensive down there... and no I didn't mean Manuel.../w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif...well maybe...?}

I understand most all 3/4 cylinder PowerTech engines used in North America are built down there {including mine}...

I'm also sure if there was any threat of a problem, JD would address it accordingly...

My JD5205 is multilingual...Assembled in America, with world class components...from United States, Italy, Spain, Japan, Mexico, etc. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Lets not forget that the 6000 series is built in Manheim, Germany. I believe that the 5x10 and 5x20 series are built in Augusta, GA. I am sure that different components (engines, transmissions, axles, etc. are built all over the world, and these are then assembled wherever the company says they are built. I think that companies with reputations like Kubota, Deere, NH, Case IH, Massey, etc. keep close tabs on their Quality Control, no matter where the parts are being built. They know that a good reputation in the past only gets them so far.

"They know that a good reputation in the past only gets them so far."

This is an excellent point. Any business that intends to stay profitable and continue must know how to be competitive without compromising their product, Rat...
