Evening folks. Decided to post this up after reading a lot and talking to some tractor folks here in Houston (I know, I know, not a lot of them but there are some
). I'm inheriting about 3 acres from my folks just outside of Seguin/San Antonio. My dilemma is Mesquite removal. I've been looking at a root plow to aide in the removal of about a dozen small trees on the land. I figured it was going to be a 3 part process: 1)Cutting down the tree to a short stump, 2) rolling over with a root plow, 3) hauling everything off site. I run a compact set up, Mahinda 24XL, which does what I need it to do on my city and suburban lots and brush hog my parents space. I've talked to my dealer about the root plow in question; and have been assured my little tractor can handle it (of course it can says the salesman *L* ). I've also read other threads where folks are using bigger tractors, grubbers, and insecticides; all of which have their pros and cons which leave something to be desired by me, and not much about the root plow. I'm wondering if my plan works or if I'm going to hit a snag (no pun intended). Does anyone have any experience with root plows? Any comments or opinions? Appreciate it folks.
