I just wanted to send out thought's and prayer's to our service men and women today. They put their lives on the line so that we can continue to live free. Many never returned, it is those we honor today.

Growing up during the Vietnam war and then the current Iraq situation sure puts life in perspective. People can debate wether we should of been in either place but none can doubt the dedication of the men and women who served there.

My father was a Navy man back during Korea. I had an older brother in the Army just after Vietnam. Now as a parent of an active duty Marine it brings the whole freedom and dedication to God and country into perspective. I have done more praying in the past 5 years then in the previous 47 years. Now looking back on my life I wish at the time I would of had that courage to also of served.

Doug, this is certainly a timely post. While Memorial Day is for remembering those who died in service to our country, it honors their sacrifice to remember our veterans with permanent disabilities and the struggles they meet in their daily lives. Often, a severely wounded veteran will have family that suffers alongside them for the remainder of their lives. I would suggest that the best way to honor those who died is to take care of those who need our help.

I'm not much for charity, but the one that I always give to is the Disabled Veterans. As a former Marine, it means allot to me.

We're spending the day with the kids today. Got some steaks out and we'll spend a few hours fishing, shooting guns and racing around on the four wheeler.

I put up a new flag today, sure looks pretty in the stiff wind!

Thanks to those who served, and the families of those who served, who also sacrificed.

And a special personal remembrance for a member of the greatest generation, who served in the Navy in WWII, and left us three years ago. Thanks, Dad.

Your loving son.

Who misses you very much.
