meeting a fellow TBN member

Today
I had the honor of one man named "Dougster" stop by my home,, I think through this forum and others used on the internet, it is a wonderful way to meet in person, they, who we so freely converse with on these forums. A wonderful man to know and yes, Dougster is all that you would think he is..

Yep, Larry, down here in Texas quite a number of us have gotten together and got to know new friends as a result of Tractorbynet.

Thanks for the compliment Larry! Not quite sure I deserve it or can live up to the billing!

I will return the favor by saying it was a privilege and honor to finally meet one of my most prized "mentors" from the TBN community... clearly someone who has forgotten more about the operational and business/commercial aspects of tractor and backhoe use than I can ever hope to know.

Can't say I forgot more than you know, if you listen to my wife, I have been forgetfull for many years.. And, you heard my neighbor Richard introduce himslef and the nice retired man living next to that crackpot with the orange tractor.. Although I don't mind being known as the local crackpot, people are afraid to come down my driveway and meet me in person. This, can be a good thing, at times,..

First off, they probably aren't half as afraid of you as they are afraid of your, ahem, little pet!

Hope those poor cable guys made it out of there in one piece!

Second, half the fun of owning a sizable TLB in Southern New England is having neighbors next door who think you are a crackpot!

It's part of the fun!

Wouldn't be without them!

Third and last, your neighbor in that "vacation resort-like" paradise that you call home... is not exactly a "next door" neighbor. More like the next property owner down the lakefront... yes?

It is a lot of fun, isn't it

I have not been to the Texas meets, but am very good friends now for a number of years with a fellow I met over the internet, before the WWW world wide web. Gosh, it was before TBN, or the previous Kubota site that evolved to TBN.

Mike and I met talking about brewing beer, and guns, back when the internet consisted of email digests, and news groups like rec.scuba etc. The homebrew digest The Homebrew Digest continued, but I don't know what happened to firearms and ca-firearms digests.
