May need a new switch to solve this issue?

I have a 2004 Kubota B7800.

The former owner told me that if it did not start, that I would need to press the hydro forward pedal and then turn the key to start.

For the past 2 years I have rarely had to do this. It started nearly every time without any problem.

This spring there are times when it is not restarting when I turn the key-no turnover at all.

I lightly depress the hydro forward pedal, release it, turn the key and it starts right up.

Also, many times when I get off the tractor seat while the engine is idling, the tractor shuts off. A tap on the hydro forward pedal and it restarts just fine.

Is there a switch that may be faulty or something that I can lubricate?

That would be the first thing I'd check.

By accelerator, do you mean the hydro forward pedal? Is there a "neutral" position switch that the pedal(s) must be in to start? Perhaps it's slightly out of adjustment. I don't know much about your tractor but I would look for a switch (with wires on it) that is next to the linkage from your pedals.
It quits when you get off the tractor. Is it more accurate to say it quits when you get off the seat? If so this is just a switch in the seat doing it's job. I would think this is unrelated (sort of) to the other foot pedal switch.

I believe jodbg's assumption that the hydro pedal is the culprit is correct. Without foot pressure on it, the switch on it should be in a position that tells the tractor it's OK to keep running if there is no fanny on the seat. The same switch won't allow the tractor to start if it isn't in the right position.
