Max 24 HST bypass

Has anyone with a Max 24 HST experienced the unit going into bypass before spinning the tires or stalling the motor (low range)? High range is useless in the hills of WV. I have talked to 3 dealers and they all seem surprised that it will not spin the tires or stall the motor. I have been doing a lot of searching online and have found that some other brands have the same issue. The bypass/relief valve in the HST unit is set so low that you do not get near the drawbar hp that you should be. I don't understand why they are designed this way. They should act the same as a geared tractor in that you should be limited by traction or engine power. Had I known what I know now, I certainly would not have purchased this machine. Does anyone know if the Max 26 HST can use all of its engine power?

As I stated in another post. Check the pressure test ports for witness marks. The ports are located just in front of the fill tube and dipstick. Ive checked the reliefs on many MAX tractors. Low range is all but unstoppable with the brakes to do the test. If everything is working properly and in spec you should be able to push over small trees in low range.:thumbsup:
