I'm thinking about getting a tractor along the lines of the Massey GC2310 or the Agco ST22 or ST24. I know that both are essentially the same machine, but was wondering about the qualitative aspects like operator comfort, stability on hills, and so on. For those who have operated both, what did you like or dislike about each? I was also curious if my Agco dealer could get me a Massey, since the latter is owned by the former.

My main uses at the moment are finish mowing (looking for a mid-mount deck between 54 and 62"), snow removal and light loader work. Currently we have about 2.5 acres to mow and move materials around, and the drive is <1/8 mile. However we are looking around for about 10 acres to start a little horse operation, and would be using this machine to help tend to horses, and probably to help in light groundwork, gardening and construction. If you have ideas for other machines that might be better suited to some of these tasks, I'm open to suggestions. Thanks!

They are all good choices. MF GC2310 has a backhoe, the ST22A will not have a backhoe until next year or so. The ST24A will also not have a backhoe until later this year or sometime next year. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Your AGCO dealer can only get you AGCO products unless they carry the Massey Ferguson brand. There are Massey Ferguson dealers in Iowa. The GC2300 is the original sub-compact offered by AGCO Corporation. The AGCO ST22 has a different hood but the rest is the same. As mentioned before the Massey Ferguson can come with a backhoe on the model GC2310. AGCO brand does not have the backhoe option.

Are there any differences in the frame from the 2300 to the 2310? I know the Agco ST22 and ST24 are the same machine, but the 24 has a heavier frame and a backhoe option. . .

The ST24 is the equivalent of the MF 1523. They are not sub-compacts. There are some differences between the GC2300 and GC2310.

The ST24 is a sub-compact

The difference in the GC2300 and the GC 2310 is the GC2310 is a subcompact TLB. The GC2300 is a very nice lawn and garden tractor. The frames are different.

Because AGCO owns the brand Massey Ferguson. The product's variation would very likely be paint and stickers.
You may have already done this.
If you can get to a dealer ask them if you can try one.

The ST 24 is a small frame compact tractor/ Full Category 1 hitch. It is a little larger than a sub compact tractor.

The AGCO Brands and Massey brands are nearly identical. With a few exceptions like the backoue GC2310 which is a Massey exclusive, you will be able to find the exact same machine in either Orange or Red.

"2.5 acres to mow + maybe 10 acres for horse farm"
You might want to consider a CUT over a subCUT with that much land.

Yes I am with you on that one, I have 11.5ac.

I would say go with the 1528 if not higher, I have the 1533.
