I have decided that I am going to get either a Kubota L2800 or Massey 1531. Both with hydrostats. I am going to be doing some brush cutting and loader work on some pretty hilly ground. I have a bad left knee and looking at replacement in a year or so. I figure the hydro would be easier to operate going foward and reverse a lot. If anyone has a better suggestion on which transmission may work better, I will listen.

Will the 1531 handle a 5 foot heavier brush cutter, 5-6 ft disk and box blade? I am familiar with Kubota and its resale value. How does the Massey stack up? Also the price is $18,900 with a loader. Kubota would be $16,000.

I own a 1531 hydro and I absolutely love it. The side by side forward reverse pedals on the Massey are great. It's funny that you should mention the Kubota L2800 because when I was trying to decide on a tractor the L2800 was one I did some research on. The Massey 1531 has more hydraulic flow for loader, backhoe, etc, stronger 3 point lift, wider wheelbase, more overall hp, and more pto hp for running your five foot heavy brush cutter. I bought the 1531 and have no doubt that I made the right decision. As for the resale, yeah...I'd probably say Kubota will win that category. I'd say to spend some time comparing specs at the Kubota and Massey sites and that'll help you decide. Good luck with whatever decision you make!

Hey Bever22, is it a Bush Hog brand cutter? I'm starting to compare cutters and I'm just curious as to what brand and model you're using.

Thanks, 3day

The MF Brush cutters are made by Rhino. If we ever have enough of a need for one, I would get the MF too. But, I am also one sided!! :)

No, it is a model from TSC, I cant remember the name but it is yellow. I should say brush cutter but I guess it is a habit. It works real well and I have never had the need for a better one so for now I have the knock off brand.
