A week and a half ago, I took my wife to the local Massey dealer where she test drove a 2410TLB. Nice machine, I drove it too, and we are considering if it may be good for our little ranch. Anyway, the dealer quoted a cash price of $17,100 for the TLB, but a financed price of over $19,000 if we choose that route, and a Massey machine. Any opinions on that pricing, especially on the differential of over $2k from AGCO? I don't know that most other tractor manufacturers do that, or am I wrong and some others do? I think that Polaris prices their stuff like that, and I understand why one might, but I am interested in folks take on this from Massey. It seems like it is a bit on the large side of a difference, and makes the financing of 0% a bit of a false option. Any thoughts on the prices or policy appreciated. Thanks.

I visited a couple MF dealers before making my decision about buying. I believe the one guy said they pay something like 2% if you finance. Don't know if that's correct, but like EVERYTHING, your finance option price is negotiable. Tell the dealer you'd be interested if they can get the financed option closer to the cash option. Call around to several dealers, even if they're not directly nearby (you can at least get a feel for what others are doing). Its all about the back-and-forth...

You would generally get a better price for the cash price. That difference seems a little high but who knows. If the finance costs the dealer money & there is extra discounts for cash it could be close to that much. Maybe you could finance it for less of a term and get a little better price.

Nope, it isn't, but I'm sure we've all heard the saying "there's no such thingh as a free lunch."

Nobody lends money without making a profit somewhere. Except maybe the government, but I think we all know how good they are at keeping books.

Lending money costs money and someone is going to profit off the fact that we all can't pay cash for everything.

My father always said "Cash or Terms, you can't get both."

When I bought my tractor, I tried to get the price down since I was paying cash... it was the same price :( so, yea, I ended up using their money for a couple years. Even if they knocked off a few hundred, I would have paid cash.

The dealer quoted me a cash price of $17,500 or $18,900 finance price on a1528 with loader. Checked local banks the best was 6.25 for 60 mo. or 7.00 for 72 mo. Any way you look at it your going to pay an average of $1500. Plus local banks offer life&dis. for the loan, Massey doesn't. sometthing to think about. A friend bought a new Kubota and it was $900 more for finance price. What I've been told they add insurerance& paerwork fee's for their finacing. P.S> still haven't heard frpm other dealers, their loss. Time for a road trip.

Peat Moss, I saw in a prior post you said you're in Western MD. I'm not too far from you, so I'm going to send you a private message with more details about what I've seen. Maybe it'll be helpful.

Thanks for the comments, several ideas for me to consider if we go Massey. I haven't tried to narrow the dealers cash-finance gap yet, not too certain that would be possible from the way it was explained to us initially. My understanding is that Kubota does not do it that way, at least here. The benefit of the time cost/holdback of the money if we financed it is certainly there, but it almost feels like more of a lease-buy option than the true deal they are touting at us all in their ads. Anyone have any take on the 2410 TLB actual price of $17,100? West coast prices may be a bit higher for some tractors, not sure at this point. Thanks for the input so far.

I paid $ 17,250.00 out the door for my GC2410, that included a Gearmore box scraper and all the sales tax here in California. There is an insurance policy that is required for the loan and I think it was about $ 1100.00 for the 72 months but the coverage is very good. If you pay off the loan or get a binder from any of your existing insurance policies you don't need to pay the insurance. I bet that is a big portion of the difference. The insurance is rolled into the purchase price but it can be canceled at anytime for a prorated refund.
