I have a MF GC2400 and it developed a leak of hydraulic fluid at the screw on filter. There's no fluid on the top or above the filter so I'm assuming the gasket has dry rotted and is leaking. Here's my dilemma. I went to the dealer and they sold me the filter ($30) and hydraulic oil (outrageous $45+ for 3 gallons of the cheap stuff). The only thing the guy at the dealer could tell me was that it took 2.9 gallons. So, where is the drain plug??? Is it at the low spot of the rear end (differential looking thing)? is there a dipstick somewhere to check the level? do I drain it by taking the filter off and letting it drain out? Should I just switch out the filter and add a gallon or whatever leaks out? Change the whole thing? what about the "inline" filter that's shown on the parts book? Should that be changed as well? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as the dealer was no help on any of this.
