Massey ferguson 175 mixing

Thinking about buying a massy F 175 and the guy said that the transmission fluid is mixing in the engine oil is this possible if so what are the causes ??? Or what could be mixing with the oil ??

Sounds strange, on English build tractors there are no point where that can happen. Might be power steering fluid.

How could I check for that and I thought it sounded strange also

Someone told him it was transmission seals but I don't see that you have to break the whole tractor in half for that

You must splitt it if the seals on the transmission is gone, does it leak? Check that the weep hole is open in the bellyhousing.

At no point would the fluid from the trans or rear end have a path to get into the engine, even a hydraulic fluid cooler would only have lines running to the front and that would be external to the engine. IF the power steering pump is leaking into the engine it would be some sort of seal at the front of the pump where it a shaft is driven by a gear off the engine (if it is an engine mounted pump).

I have MF 175. It is the power steering pump It Took me awhile to figure out why tractor made oil. I rebuilt it still leaked. Bought new one works fine.
