Massey Ferguson 1736
Hi everyone i am a new member ans am having issue with my 2014 massey ferguson 1736 currently has 150 hours. I bought this tractor last april brand new and traded out of my nice john deere 4410. The night my massey was deleivered it was already throwing dpf codes and seat switch codes. Tractor was stalling. I parked it and it went to the dealer 2 months later and spent 6 weeks there doing god knows what. When i got it back it was ok, then 2 weeks after that it was running very very rough, big engine knock, and smoking terrible. It went to another dealer, spent 2 weeks there. Has software update, 3 new injectors, and a turbo. Still is running strange but better. Dealer told me massey is working on more updates, and that i meed to run a product called hot ahots secret for know until they figue things out. I absolutlry hate this tractor. I want out of it. As of right now its a complete dog, has no grunt. Am contacting dealer again tomarrow. Please someone help with advice on what to do. Also maintance has been right on par. No issues on my end with that and dealer knows its a huge massey issue. I want out of this tractor so bad.

Will it qualify for lemon law yet?

Did you use the Hot Shots stiction eliminator? Did it help? That is an additive typically used in high pressure oil fired injectors... Not sure but I don't believe the Mitsu injectors in the 1736 are fired that way. Sounds like your issues are directly related to the tier 4 components that Mitsubishi used on that engine (Massey switched from Iseki to Mitsubishi engines for tier 4 ...). That is a great overall tractor... I'm sure once the software bugs get worked out you'll be singing a happier tune.

Seat switch issues are common to many manufacturers... It's a stupid safety feature. It is easily eliminated by zip trying the flip switch under the seat.

By the way, did you come on this forum just to bash the tractor or did you have a specific question?

Be patient, these are growing pains with all the new emissions stuff. They will rectify it. One thing you cannot do in the cold, start, move, stop. Let it get good and warm, but do not let it idle forever.

Probably not yet, but every state is different. I thought NJ it required three attempts to fix the same problem, but it's been a long time so things could have changed.

The important thing to do is document the problems and all the dealer attempts to fix it. Be very specific....exact dates, hours on the machine, etc. If you don't get any satisfaction with the dealer, I'd contact the Massey corporate office and tell them what's going on. They might be able to get a regional rep to look at your machine.

I'm not familiar with your tractor, but if it has a diesel particulate filter, see if you can run a manual regen on it. With DPF's, limit the idle time to almost none. When your system goes into regen mode, run it as hard as you can and high rpm's. The exhaust temps need to get to 1400*f or so to clean the filter. If your two seconds from parking and it goes to regen, then let it sit at full throttle if you can. If you dont have a choice and have to shut it down, then make sure you let it do the regen the next time it tries. I'm not saying that you are not doing this already, I'm just hoping that it may help you. It's still under warranty, so keep having them work on it, document everything, and if they tell you to run an additive, get it in writing. You already said it sounds different, if there was engine harm or is a catastrophic failure in the future, you don't want them to take oil samples and fuel samples and find "proof" that this was your fault and not theirs.
