Hello, I am having a very hard time finding two parts for my later year production MF 165 and I am hoping to get some help.
I am going to try and rebuild it in a couple years and will need more parts later but for now it is the fuel tap shut-off and the fuel sending unit.
I'll start with reference #4 out of the parts book, part# 511 967 M1, sending unit every place I've search online shows a completely different looking one, which is fine, but when I look at ones that can be reviewed it says that it either does not fit the 165 (screw holes wrong places) or it sends the wrong\opposite signal. Anyone know where to get one that works or I have the original is there a way to take it apart and rebuild it?

Second is reference #35 part # 521 643 M91 shut-off assembly, this part seems to be completely unavailable but I've found similar ones. Only one huge problem they never send what is pictured. I have ordered from 7 different places on the internet only to get something different then what is shown, the valve in the pictures always show that the tank tap with screen facing up, fuel line exiting to the right of the shut-off knob (what I need) but when I receive the item the fuel line exit's to the left of the valve. The frustrating part is I have asked before ordering and the last four have all said it is what is pictured that will be sent. So if anyone knows where I can get a correct 3\8"tap with fuel line that exit's to the right I will be forever grateful.

I should also add it is a Perkins diesel 203. It is a US model not the GB or SA ones.

What does the original fuel shutoff look like? It looks to me like the picture was flipped (mirror image) in the manual and you have the correct part. Can you not just install it so the valve points to the right?

When turning the shut-off valve into the tank you can decide how tight and in witch direction it must stand. I normaly replace the fuelline to the liftpump aswell

What does the original fuel shutoff look like? It looks to me like the picture was flipped (mirror image) in the manual and you have the correct part. Can you not just install it so the valve points to the right?

The original one was removed years ago and Jimmy rigged. The problem with using the wrong one it will put the shut-off valve facing the engine maybe a inch or so away. This would not be a problem right away but in the long run the plastic will melt and to replace would mean tearing more apart than just unscrewing the screw and replacing the handle or o-ring.

I used a universal sending unit on mine like this one, it's the same type they used on the old cars, and I couldn't find a petcock so I just restored the original as best I could. The dealers won't be much help with any of these parts but you can find a lot of them on ebay, and there are some guys in the uk selling reproduction parts as well.

Thank you for the link to the sending unit it is the closest I've seen that is like the original.
As far as getting the shut-off from the UK I thought that as well. So I contacted a few of them only to find out the threading would never work because it is in the measurement system they use. So wrong thread count and pitch the threads go.

This is the best picture the book shows of the shut-off with the fuel line coming out the right side of the valve and going around the back of the engine.

But are you sure you have the original tank? What type of tread are on your tank?

Yes it is the correct one. Everything fits like it is supposed to. The 3\8" threads on the wrong shutoffs are US standard and screw in perfect, the UK version would be 3/8" BSPT male thread to tank, 1/2" UNF female that would still come out to the right of valve, also the UK tank is different it had the sending unit hole right next to the filing hole. The US tank are spread apart.
