When I am bush hogging thick grass or briars the bush hog seems to slip or quit cutting till I raise it or get in thinner grass. Is that the clutch or could that be the bushhog itself?

Does the bushhog have a slip clutch on it? Do the blades stop while the driveline still turns or does the everything stop.

Assuming it doesn't have a slip clutch, it sounds like your PTO clutch may be slipping. Have you checked to be certain it's adjusted properly? I saved the following clutch adjustment instructions from another TBN forum thread, but do not recall which thread it was. Perhaps you will find them useful.

Sounds like it is going to be in your clutch. Like MasseyWV said try and adjust it. If that doesnt work you will prob need a new clutch.

the driveline stops turning or slows down

So, does the bushhog have a slip clutch or not? It's easy to determine this since the slip clutch should be located between the end of the pto driveshaft and the gearbox on the bushhog. If the driveline stops turning, then it's the pto clutch inside the transmission case. The MF135 has a 2-stage clutch. The part of the clutch that controls the operation of the pto shaft may be out of adjustment or just plain worn out. YOu can try to adjust that clutch using the info provided above. If that doesn't work, the clutch is shot and you'll have to split the tractor and repair/replace the 135's clutch.

Good luck.
