Massey Ferguson 1250 with 1246 loader

Hey Guys,
I am finally getting back to country living after spending 30 years in the city. I just bought a small acreage (6 acres) in Northern Colorado and will need a tractor for mowing weeds and moving snow. I am also an electrical contractor and can occasionally use a back hoe. I am debating on whether to buy a new compact tractor (there seem to be a lot of good deals on new tractors with implements and a trailer and a 4 or 5 year warrantee) or just try to find something used but in good shape. I don't have time to do a lot of extra repairs and maintenance.
Someone has a MF 1250 with a 1246 loader for sale here on Craigslist with only 179 hours on it that I am going to take a look at tomorrow. She is asking $13,500 for it which seems towards the high end of fair, but those are pretty low hours for a 13 year old tractor.

One question I would have is whether I would have to remove the three point hitch to attach a subframe backhoe.

I would appreciate any info or recommendations.

On my DK 45 HST the three point stays on. (Subframe mount Hoe)
As far as what to get, used VS new. depends on your budget.

For snow removal and hot summers ,a factory cab is really nice, heat/AC stereo etc.

I am very happy with my Kioti I bought this summer...I would recommend it.




If the MF has been garaged, and not sitting outside that might not be a bad deal.

For myself I wanted the next frame size up...40+hp you get alot more tractor.

I have a 1250 massey with a 1246 loader & 1217 backhoe. Yes you want to remove the 3pt hitch, but it is less than 5 mnutes to do. Parts are going to become harder to get, I would go maybe $10,500 ish. Good luck!

If you're still looking I have a 2001 1250 woods fel and woods 7.5' bh - not for sale, just advice. I've always had good luck with masseys, however, I'm having some electrical problems now, only 900hrs. ISeki, maker of mf compacts, is a good manufacturer. Expect lower quality workmanship on mf compacts -deere is the best I have ever owned, followed closely by kubota. The older ford nh or good, I don't like the new mitsubishi models. I guess,overall, I would look for a clean kubota.
