I just acquired a Massey Ferguson 1030 4wd. She is in need of some TLC but I think is going to be a nice little tractor. The model number on the tag only says MF1030. I know there are some 1030-L models out there but I do not know what that means. My questions are:
1 . How do I know if its a synchro trans, or just a standard trans. I am ordering manuals and dont know which it is. I was figuring there has to be a tell sign of whether it is synchro or not. Any ideas?
2. Second question, I am not sure if the four wheel drive is working or not. The lever to engage the front end I believe is on the left hand side right under the seat. All the labels are gone so the levers have been best guess so far. My question is, is up suppose to engage 4wd, or is the downward position suppose to engage 4wd? Or is this lever something else?
3. What does the L stand for on some 1030's?
4. Is there anywhere, or anyone I can give the serial number to that would tell me all of this data?
Any help would be great..
