Right now all I have up front is two single acting cylinders that raise the front end. No tilt, dump, etc..
I've got a 2 way cylinder for forks and bucket to tilt. when I hook it all up, the single action(gravity falling) cylinders that raise/lower boom leak down when I tilt back/dump forward the bucket, as if they lose the hyd lock that has them help up.
It is an older MF65 that to operate the front cylinders,a ball valve has to be opened to the front and 3PT raised all the way up, with boom controlled by the draft lever.
The spool valve I have for the double cylinder(tilt/dump) is fed from other supply and return ports than the boom cylinder, in hopes that I could raise front to desired height, close ball valve and work tilt/dump. Not so.. Maybe the ball valve leaks thru.
Pics to come as I'm as new to this and my statements may not make sense.Although in the Navy I studied hydraulics pretty regularly, although not MF's 1960 designs!!
Thanks

The loader's lift cylinders are single acting. You have only one hose from the tractor supplying them through a ball valve. If that is indeed the case, then I agree that closing the ball valve should trap oil in cylinders and the loader position should hold. In order for the loader to drop, oil must be exiting the cylinders, one way or another. It's either going back into the tractor or out on the ground. Did this condition exist before you added the extra valve and cylinder? A few good photos would go a long way toward determining what you have going on.

Install a diverter valve in place of the transfer cover on the top of the lift cover between your legs in front of the seat. Get a two spool valve, one to run the lift and one to run the tilt. The opposite port from the lift goes to tank since it is single acting cylinders. Some diverter valves have multiple outlets. Plug the unused. On the diverter valve ,one position will operate the three point, one will operate the loader. Hose comes out of the diverter valve to the in port of the spool valve. Work Port from one valve to the lift cylinder, the other tee into return hose. Other work ports go to respective ports on tilt cylinders. Return to tank hose can be sometimes connected to the diverter valve if it has a return port built in. Otherwise you may have a plug on the left hand side of the lift cover under the seat that can be used as a return. Some have drilled and tapped the fill plug by the shift levers for the return. Run the loader with the position lever all the way back in the constant pumping position. Run the three point as usual, but don't go into constant pumping.
