Massey 4255 w/ mfwd ((Information wanted))

Anyone here have any personal experience with this model tractor? Im looking at one and want all the information (pros and cons) I can get. thanks

They are a good tractor. 4cyl Perkins. Several tranny options and choice of mech reverser or hydraulic reverser. They are very popular in the UK.

It has about 100 engine hp, 80-85 pto hp. Some are slant nose which are great for loader use. It was a no cost option when new. The 3 range by 4 speed tranny has a spring in it that wears out and leads to poor shifting. Its cheap to fix I'm told.

The hydraulic reverser is the way to go for loader work. Includes a wet main clutch.

I have a 4243, (same series, less HP). The 4200 series is one of the best models MF ever built, IMO.

I have a 4243 which is same series. It it the biggest piece of junk on our farm!! Do not get!! It is constantly going to the shop for repairs
