Massey 3660 MFWD Questions

I was running my Massey in the mud the other day moving some trees that fell in my fields. I noticed when I hit mud that the front tires weren't really turning when the back was slipping. I had the button for the mfwd engaged. How can you tell if this is working? Is there some sort of actuator that moves when the button is pushed?

I think I figured it out. Found a separated coupler on the drive shaft..
