I have a Massey 35 with the 23c 4 cyl diesel. I've been picking away at fixing things on it and have it to the point where it will start well in winter. Incidentally rewiring the tractor an increasing wire sizes to the glow plugs and ignition had the most benefit. A new timing chain and tensioner, and lift pump also helped.
So I have been fixing as many leaks as possible with the last being the injection pump. I resealed it based on a video from Bundy's bears shed on youtube and all went easily. However, it won't start. I've bled the system and I am getting fuel to the injectors, but not a whiff of smoke from the tailpipe.
So what gives? Frankly, I suspect timing. But how could the timing change from a reseal? I was very careful not to move the circlip from original, and the G on the pump lines up to the marks on it when the 1/4" hole in the flywheel is aligned.
Could it be priming issues? Am I missing something about the timing?
Any help welcomed.
