1955 Ferguson 35
I have an old 1955 Fergson 35 (Massey Harris Ferguson), with a Davis 102 Loader. It has a Cesna 20GPM pump mounted on the front of a recently rebuild Continental 4 Banger engine.

I need a hoe from time to time, and being in Canada I get raped to order anything. I thought for random weekend work a Jinma LW6 or 7 backhoe, I can get a 7 for just under 3 delivered wtih hydraulic thumb.

My question is, some places show the Jinma Lw7 as a Cat II, some show it as a Cat 1. Looking at the beefy diff on my Fergie, I don't think I'd bust it, but can anyone who actually has used one of these things tell me if it would fit?

I have a power beyond from the Davis 102 loader which connected to the original Fergy backhoe that the unit came with (And was junk), so I would rather just plumb into that and use quick connects.

Any thoughts?

Being an ex-LW6 owner, I can honestly suggest that you look into a Woods, Bradco, Tomcat, or LiTW. You would be more satisfied even with the aforementioned used ones.
The difference between Cat I and Cat II hitches is the pin sizes, and if they are built to ASAE standards the spacing of the lift pins is greater.
"Random weekend work" is a fallacy. It's analagous to hauling a ten ton tractor with a half-ton pickup - I'll just be making short trips.

I currently have a LiTW BH7600 for sale. See it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WM_FNP2vLyw

Yeah, what Bob said. The Jinma hoes are known for being arbitrary and jerky as well as having maintenance issues. You'd be much better off with one of the Korean ones or others. That LiTW that Bob has for ale would be a good deal for you - price is right and it is close by, well closer than China anyway. I can tell you that Bob will have maintained it scrupulously, too.

Yep, definitely the lower end of the quality scale. I have a china hoe, and got it because I got a screaming deal on it, could pick it up locally and the dealer made a subframe adapter that mated with my loader frame which he included with the BH. I agree with all the above statements. They are not particularly well designed. They are pretty heavy steel but not necessarilly the best application of the materials used. The boom swing pivots on mine were sloppy and not supported on both sides of the pivots, which was just silly. That was one of the biggest contributing factors to it being jerky as a boom swing input caused the boom to often not only swing but hop up or down. I redesigned mine with support on both sides of the pivot so it swings clean and smooth now. The valve is simple without load checks on each circuit, so combined control inputs can lead to opposite movements, IE boom up and boom swing cna lead to boom swing and boom down as the weight of the boom feeds fluid back thru the valve to supply the swing... I also got a friday bucket and had to repair that after using it on some stumps and deforming it. The disassembly showed a very poor assembly at the factory(poor fit parts and poor welds). Your pump should handle it, but I doubt your hydraulic reservoir or cooling are up to the task. Hoes are in constant operation when in use and that means a LOT of heat into the hydraulic oil. You need to dissipate this heat and have enought volume to deal with this heat. Using the tractor system makes this problematic, but not insurmountable.

Does it dig, yes it does, and quite well once you get the bugs worked out and get used to the controls. There are however smoother out of the box hoes. Good luck.

By the time you pay full price for the LW 6 or 7 and then finish repairing all the defects and leaks and parts left out at the factory, you'll wish you'd bought a used one of a brand name.
