Guys - Found a 2017 MF 1736 cab with 60 hrs and also a 2017 TYM 454cab with also about 60 hrs- The MF is Hydro and the TYM is shuttle- The only issue with the Massey is that it only has 27.5 Hp to the PTO- I will be using it for mowing 10-12 acres of very hilly terrain and doing snowplowing- I have a 5 foot bushhog- Would the 27.5Hp on PTO be enough??- I do not have any dealers anywhere near me- Was thinking the TYM with 45 hp may be better than the 36 of the Massey but need your opinions- Both are around $25K- Is that a good deal- thanks

I recently purchased a Kioti ck3510se, which is about the same, with 28 pto hp. I haven't run the brush hog much yet, but what I have, was also on very hilly terrain. No problem with the 5ft brush hog.

I can't speak to the price, as I wasn't looking at cab models at all.

I have two 50 hp tractors and a 22 pto hp. I just mowed 4ft tall cat tails w/ a 5 ft rotary on the little ford. Ability in relationship to hp is deceiving. Also moved a lot of snow w/ the ford, using loader and 65" snow blower. The HST transmission is very handy. The MX is also hst. The IH is shuttle.

There are no RK stores in NJ, but for comparison, google RK tractors and look at features and cost, all clearly posted on website, you may be amazed. RK tractors are made by TYM.

The rule of thumb for flail mowers is 5 pto hp per foot of width. Flails need a bit more power than rotaries as they re-chop the cut material more.
According to that you should be fine with 27.5. However I think the 1736 is a bit more than 60" wide across the tires. So you may want a 6' in the future.
I use a 5' rotary on my Branson 3725 which is 72 inches across the widest part of the tires, 70" at the treads. By pushing it to the side when setting the sway bar pins I can get it to cut about in line with the right tire.

To me HST vs non HST would be a big deal. I operate in tight areas and on varying slopes. If you're mowing open areas and don't need to change speeds much then a shuttle would not be as much of a handicap.

Dave from Ontario w/ the 7040 did an extensive post on driveshat angle. His point was that for every degree of offset from center or straight alignment, the lifespan of the driveshaft is shortened.

The Massey 1736 is listed new for about $30,400 - $31,000 on Tractorhouse website which makes it the better used price when compared to buying new. If you need any parts down the road the Massey will be better as there are a lot of Massey dealers around the country and AGCO is a pretty big company that probably won't disappear (Iseki makes these tractors for them). There are some decent dealers within a 1-2 hour drive of anywhere in NJ from what I can see.

Rural King is selling TYM made tractors - $25.5K for RK37 Cab with HST and basically $30k for RK55 Cab with HST for price reference.
TYM 454's are listed new from $27.8k for a HST in Arkansas to $29k with shuttle$30k with HST @ Carroll Equipment up by Finger Lakes, NY.

The TYM beats the Massey on pure spec's and your question is if the Massey is big enough for your PTO tasks which others with more experience are answering.

Best advice if you haven't done so already is to drive both of them and one of them will stand out to you. I take it these are dealer units you are trading in the SA424 for?

From my own experience there are no decent TYM dealers or Rural King near me so I didn't look at them. The Massey was ok for me (I got an un-competitive price from the salesman I dealt with) - the only caveat is they suspend the HST pedals from the middle of the tractor so it could be uncomfortable for a woman or man with smaller feet to drive all the time (my wife hated the tractor because of that). Otherwise, it seemed to operate well.
