Everyone,

Looking to maybe trade-in my NH Boomer 3040 HST open station tractor for a Massey 1648 CAB model. Looking at either the HST or DynaQPS transmission. Does anyone have the DynaQPS? If you do, how does it compare with the HST? Is it easy to use? Also, any idea on the approximate cost for the HST or DynaQPS? The AGCO/Massey build site is giving me a retail price of $40k. Thank you.

We have a 1635 Powershuttle, and the dyna is the Cadillac version of that, no clutch needed to change gears, just push the button.

I would get that in a heartbeat over HST, as you still use the shuttle to change direction - no clutch needed for that either.

Drove a 1660 Cab Dyna around a lot here in Ontario, very nice! Not as intuitive as HST I found but it wouldn't be difficult to get used to by any means, a far cry from shifting my 135 when blading snow! Very smooth transition from fwd to reverse.

If I had the money it would be the Dyna hands down...
My only reservation would be the reliability of the unit...
I have no idea how many of those systems Massey has out on in the market and how long they would hold up versus hydro or shuttle shift systems...

That Is the baby version of the Dynashift found on larger tractors. Will be just as reliable as the Powershuttle, and no where Near as noisy as the hydro units. If you are looking at hard ground engaging work, do not get the HST.

Thanks for the info Will...
Massey has the only larger compacts with Cab that have that power shift option...
I am sure that it is pricier than hydro...
If I was gonna get my dream comfort machine it would be the 1660 cab and Dyna...
I am sure that combo is way north of 30K with FEL...

Actually, the DynaQPS is cheap than the HST. Both the DynaQPS and HST is over 30k but should not be more than 35k.

Does anyone know how the 1648 and 1652 is on fuel? Do they eat or slip fuel? I see the 1648 has a 134.1 engine displacement and the 1652 has a 180.4 displacement (the 1652 is a torque monster at 128.3 vs. the 1648 at 103.3). If I go with the 1652, I am just concerned with the fuel consumption.

Also, just curious about resale? Does Massey hold it value as well as a John Deere, Kubota and New Holland? I believe in the past they did not, but since the 2000-2011, Massey seems to have come a long way.

Thanks...

Resale is regional, but yes, they hold their value well, especially if you trade for another MF. Any make is that way though...

I'll put my massey up against any of the other makers, they all have their up's and down's, it's just most of the up's massey seems to have. and mine makes me happy.... and (I can find all the buttons and switches in the dark):cool2:

The dyna is cheaper, and quieter, and puts more to the ground than HST, and as stated if planning a lot of ground engagement work a better option. I had been thinking only HST for my use, but after driving the dyna I'm not as convinced the requirement to move the lever each time from forward to reverse is as much an issue as I'd thought before using one.
