Recently bought a 2000 MF 1250 4x4. It has less than 800 hrs and looks like it has been babied all it's life. The guy I bought it from said that he owned it for 3 yrs and never bothered to take it out of 4wd.
I used it for a few hours and shifted into 2wd (had to WD-40 the shaft). Worked fine, I was using it today with a blade and shifted into 4wd cause the turf tires were spinning on the grass in the barn lot. Again, worked fine. When I shifted back into 2wd there was an awful mechanical squalling noise, like a giant disc brake. When I put it back into 4wd the noise goes away.
Anywhere to start looking?
