I would start looking at a railroad track.

I have seen lot of posers, but I don't recall ever seeing a woman (albeit a young one) have such confidence in the operation of such a complex machine. She just appears totally at home in that environment.

She has probably grown up around the rail museum.
The reversing gear lever is plenty for her to handle, that lever moves a lot of parts on the valve gear, but she gets it done.

I see plenty of examples of strong, independent women and I usually find theres a dad behind her and heavily involved in her life. Its the dads that only give attention to their sons that end up with daughters hung up on boys and cell phones.

I think it says a lot that the men are just laid back, relaxed, and joking around while she is working. It shows that they have confidence in her skills.
