I have a 2001 Long Agribusiness 390 HST (version prior to the Farmtrac) that's making a loud clacking noise when trying to start. I don't mean a clicking noise like if the battery was dead or solenoid issue. This is louder and sounds mechanical. At first if it made this noise the engine would still turn over and try to start, then the engine stopped turning over and just made the noise. The clacking is quick but random, if that makes any sense. If you have a bad connection when trying to start the clicking is spaced out evenly, this is different, the timing between clacks is all over the place. Would this be a starter problem? Any input would be appreciated.
