I have a j5 bombardier, there痴 no 3 point or pto on them but wondered if I couldn稚 devise up a pto and later the 3 pt hitch. Any body got any ideas

Google Images shows one with a front PTO and hitch. I'd vote for "Fun with Hydraulics" and some hitch arms as long as there is sufficient structure back there to handle the loads.

Yeah. I never sized up calculations for hydraulics. I used to calculate a good bit in college. There’s absolutely no hydraulics on it so it would involve quite a bit of equipment. Tanks, coolers. I wondered if I got a winch for it if I couldn’t mount a 3 point winch on it. I just need the pto is the issue.

Many commercial truck transmissions are made to accept a pto drive off the side of the transmission for say a pto driven winch, dump truck hydraulic pump, or years ago, concrete mixer drum rotation.
Suggest if a pto not readily available with your machine, you try and identify the transmission and then start your search from there.

Funny you mention. My fathers last j5 he bought had a winch on front. Powered buy s pto on the side of the transmission as it was positioned between your legs. Not sure where the guys got it from. But they do exist. But even then they had to cut a hole in front of the machine to run a driveshaft( maybe 1 or 1.125”) round stock out the front end to power a winch. It was driven by a chain on the pto shaft from the side of the gear box. It was burnt, destroyed, but maybe I should look into the side cover. Don’t ever know where it come from.

Are you wanting to run a snowblower on the front?

Could you mount a hydraulic pump to the engine as an accessory (fan belt drive)? Once you have enough hydraulics, you can do almost anything just by adding the right spool. Run a mower, snowblower, 3 pt. lift, winch, etc. etc. A hydraulic motor does count as a pto (power take off) with a 6 spline output it will connect to a standard pto shaft.

Well we have a number of them. But they were mostly used for hauling wagons across the bush/tundra . There’s no three point in them and no ptos. However we did buy one that had a pto take off on the gearbox , it was basically under the seat or between your legs is where the transmission sits. Do even then it was quite the rig to harness the pto. They ran a roller chain up to another sprocket that was coupled to a shaft and that was a couple feet long and went through the front to a small winch. It would be nice to position it to the back end to use it more than just hauling off roads
