I've had my WoodMaxx chipper for 3 years and love it. But the other day the feed roller stopped working. The problem turned out to be a sheared key in the hydraulic pump drive. The pump shaft slides into a fitting in the main chipper shaft, using only a key and no set screws to transmit the drive. The pump shaft keyway was damaged in the process. WoodMaxx responded quickly and will be sending me a replacement pump. I only have 41 hours on the machine and don't know if this is a common problem. But I suggest anyone having one of these chippers should probably remove the pump and replace the key every 15 hours or so. There are only four bolts to remove and the pump slips right off.

Boy... just barely made the warantee period.

Mine is belt driven and 4+ years old. no issues and works like new.
